Code of Conduct

33rd Texas Symposium on Relativistic Astrophysics

1. Respect, Inclusion and Anti-Harassment

In accordance with Arizona State University (ASU) policies and applicable laws, all Symposium participants must:

  • Treat all individuals with respect, regardless of race, color, national origin, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, disability, age, religion, or political affiliation.
  • Foster an inclusive environment that welcomes diverse perspectives and experiences.
  • Refrain from all forms of harassment, including but not limited to:
    • Verbal, written, or physical abuse
    • Sexual harassment or unwelcome attention
    • Discriminatory jokes or slurs
    • Intimidation or stalking, online or offline

2. Professionalism and Scientific Integrity

  • All attendees are expected to conduct themselves professionally in all conference-related activities, including plenary talks, poster sessions, informal discussions, and social events.
  • Presentations should be based on honest scientific inquiry and intellectual rigor.
  • Plagiarism, falsification of data, and misrepresentation of research are strictly prohibited.

3. Consent for Photography and Recording

  • Please be mindful of others' privacy. Attendees must obtain consent before photographing or recording any individual or presentation.
  • Session organizers may prohibit photography or recording as appropriate.

4. Safety and Accessibility

  • ASU is committed to providing a safe and accessible environment for all. Participants needing reasonable accommodations are encouraged to contact the organizers in advance at [email protected].
  • Emergencies should be reported immediately to campus police at 480-965-3456 or dial 911.

5. Reporting Misconduct

If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it promptly and confidentially to:

    All reports will be handled with sensitivity and discretion. Retaliation for reporting misconduct is prohibited.

6. Enforcement

Violations of this Code may result in actions including but not limited to:

  • Immediate removal from the conference without refund.
  • Notification to appropriate ASU offices or law enforcement.
  • Prohibition from future events hosted by ASU or affiliated organizations.
